If the name Mikaila Ulmer doesn’t ring a bell, chances are high that you may have stumbled across her lemonade at a local Whole Foods Markets. Mikaila is the creator behind the “Me & The Bees Lemonade” and, at 13 years old, is one of the youngest business owners in the U.S. Mikaila was born in 2005 in Austin, Texas to D’Andran and Theo Ulter. Both of her parents have business degrees. According to Mikaila, two significant events would lead to the creation of the lemonade brand. The first was two bee stings that at first scared her, but quickly turned into an educational quest to help save these bees once she learned how vital bees were to our ecosystem. The second was receiving a special 1940’s flaxseed lemonade recipe from her great-grandmother. The brand would go on to receive a major breakthrough in 2015, when Mikaila and her father made an appearance on the television show Shark Tank and gained a $60,000 investment from panelist Daymond John. Mikaila was also invited to meet then President Barack Obama at the White House that same year. Today, the “Me & The Bees Lemonade” is sold in over 500 stores at 360,000 bottles a year. Mikaila is also the founder of the Health Hive Foundation, an organization that helps to save the Bees.
